PSL Prosecutor Advocate Zola Majavu has confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs have been fined once more for the spectator misbehaviour that took place during their recent defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.
During their 2-1 loss to Sundowns at a sold-out FNB Stadium, Chiefs were denied an equalising goal in the dying moments of the match when Inacio Miguel was adjudged to have fouled Mosa Lebusa before a teammate slammed past Ronwen Williams.
Although brief, the ensuing chaos saw a certain section of the Soweto giants’ supporters throw missiles toward towards the pitch.
The players needed a police escort as they headed down the tunnel at full-time.
“I hereby confirm that earlier this morning, Kaizer Chiefs appeared before the PSL DC to answer on charges of spectator misbehaviour as a result of a missile-throwing incident on the 28th of September 2024 when they were fixtured against Mamelodi Sundowns FC,” Majavu said.
“They (Chiefs) pleaded guilty as charged and they were fined a monetary fine of R100 000, of which R50 000 is suspended on condition that during the period of suspension – which is up to the end of the season – they are not found guilty of a similar offence.
“Last season, they still had an outstanding suspended fine of R100 000 over a similar incident.”
“Effectively, it means now that they were convicted of this new offence, they will now pay an additional R100 000, which was previously suspended.
“In total, Kaizer Chiefs will effectively pay R150 000, plus the costs of the sitting of today, which are usually computed by the League and added to the R150 000 fine.”
