Limpopo police have intensified the search for a sergeant who vanished after the brutal murder of his wife and his domestic worker.
On Thursday, IOL reported that the double murder incident happened on Tuesday evening, at the family’s homestead under the Masisi policing area, Vhembe district.
In an update, provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba said community members are being requested to assist the SA Police Service (SAPS) in locating Sergeant Vele Nditsheni.
“The police in Limpopo are seeking public assistance to provide information that can assist in tracing Sergeant Nditsheni Vele, attached to Masisi police station,” said Mashaba.
“The SAPS believes that Sergeant Vele’s presence will be critical in the ongoing investigations, following the fatal shooting of his wife and domestic worker on Tuesday evening, October 29, at their residence in Masisi policing area, Vhembe district,” said Mashaba.
“Anyone with information that can assist in tracing Sergeant Vele should contact Sergeant Muthuphei Theophilus Musumuvhi on 082 414 2481, alternatively call the Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or contact the nearest police station.”
Police have since opened two murder cases. Mashaba said the two murdered women were certified dead at the homestead.
“The police, after being alerted, quickly rushed to the scene, together with paramedics. Upon arrival they found two women lying in a pool of blood. The victims were certified dead at the scene,” said Mashaba.
He said said the motive behind the brutal murder is still unknown. However, police said domestic violence cannot be ruled out at this stage.
Meanwhile, provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered the investigating team to mobilise all resources at their disposal, to track down the alleged killer.
“A multi-disciplinary team has been assigned and maximum resources mobilised to ensure that investigations are expedited to ultimately bring the suspect to book in order to face the full might of law,” said Hadebe.
“The police will do everything they can to find the suspect, dead or alive.”
Meanwhile, Hadebe has also extended “heartfelt” condolences to the families of the murdered women.
