On Wednesday, they beat seventh-placed Jeddah Club 1-0 to move to 49 points on the log from 23 matches – drawing level again with leaders Al Hazem, who are ahead on goal difference.

It was another tight game, but a goal by January signing Modou Barrow in the 51st minute was enough to secure the three points for ‘Jingles’ and his men.

Al Ahli are now 11 points ahead of AL Arabi – the first team in the non-promotion spots, with 11 more games to go.

It was Mosimane’s 11th win since moving to Saudi Arabia, while he’s drawn six and lost just one of his 18 games in charge of Al Ahli.

They return to action on 7 March when they will face 17th-placed Najran.
