Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane have beaten log leaders Al Faisaly 2-1 on Saturday to climb up the table.

Al Ahli have handed Al Faisaly their third defeat of the campaign after a tightly-contested tie on Saturday afternoon.

Mosimane’s scored the opener in the 27th minute through Haitham Asiri before Faisaly drew level in the third minute of first-half injury time.

However, it was Asiri who restored Al Ahli’s lead in the seventh minute of injury to take a 2-1 advantage into the break.

They managed to defend their lead after the break to secure an important win.

The victory sees Al Ahli climb into fourth place, which sees them sit in a promotion spot for the first time since Pitso Mosimane joined the club.

Al Ahli have now collected 28 points from 15 game and moved ahead of Al Riyadh based on the better goal difference.

Mosimane’s men still have one more game in hand over the teams around and sit just five points behind Al Faisaly.

Overall, they have won five games and drawn five since the South African tactician joined the Saudi First Division side.
