Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has discussed his side’s unwanted record of failing to score a single goal in the second half in the first 15 games of the season.
Pirates have become the first ever Premier Soccer League side to have gone through their first 15 games of the campaign without scoring a goal in the second half – with the previous record being 11 games without scoring in the second stanza, set by Swallows in 1997/98 as OptaJabu pointed out.

Riveiro was asked about the unwanted milestone after his side’s 2-1 defeat Cape Town City on Saturday, but admitted he can’t explain the phenomenon.
“No, I can’t, obviously I can’t [explain it],” he said.
“We should go deep in the analysis. It’s nice [for others] to mention that it’s our record but if we want to go deep and we analyse game after game.
The games that we didn’t score in the second half there’s many games where we didn’t need to score as we were leading and one of the consequences sometimes was to defend a bit lower, not by purpose [but] sometimes the games, you know, the opening is going one goal behind, they need to take risk.
“And the level in the league is not is not bad. You know, everybody can… when you lose the scare to do it everybody can dominate you during periods. And other games we just couldn’t [score].
“We scored in the MTN8 games in the second half. Against Royal AM we are score, two times against Mamelodi Sundowns.
“But for some reason, in the league, it was impossible. We hit the post, we made the goalkeeper superstar every night almost.
“But we will get there. We will get there which is why I was more worried or concerned in other games where we couldn’t create chances in the second half. And even in the first half. We we had that period as well.
“Now the story is changing again, we are creating chances but we are not capitalizing those ones. The only thing that we can do is create more.”

Pirates have their next chance to end the negative run when they host Golden Arrows at Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
Both teams sit on 19 points on the log but Arrows moved ahead of the Buccaneers because they’ve scored more goals.
