Orlando Pirates is set to make another major move in the transfer market, with Stellenbosch FC attacker Andre de Jong expected to complete his switch to the Buccaneers this week.
Soccer Laduma has reported that the New Zealand international has already communicated his decision to leave, with the Soweto giants’ offer proving too strong to turn down.

A source close to the deal revealed that De Jong was fully transparent about the situation.
“I spoke to him, and he was very open. He said, ‘Look, man, I’m leaving – the offer from Pirates was quite tempting,” the insider explained.
“He is expected to make the switch to his new club this week,” confirmed the source.
According to information gathered, Pirates’ determined pursuit of the player played a major role in accelerating the negotiations.
The Soweto giants reportedly made repeated enquiries about De Jong’s availability, signalling their intention to bring him to Orlando as part of their mid-season strengthening plan.
“The fact that Pirates were so persistent in enquiring about his services made it difficult for Stellenbosch to reject the offer.
“Also, the relationship that Pirates has had with Stellies over the years made it even tougher for the club to turn it down,” the source continued.
Pirates and Stellenbosch have conducted several smooth deals in recent seasons, fostering a level of trust between the two clubs.
This relationship appears to have eased the process once the Soweto giants formalised their offer.
The Buccaneers are believed to be reinforcing all departments as they continue their push to challenge for league honours.
With two trophies already secured this season – the MTN8 and Carling Knockout – there is a clear intention to sustain momentum heading into the new year.

“Pirates are strengthening the side so they can put up a very, very contested fight against Sundowns in the league race.
“With the quality they have now, they are on equal footing with Sundowns to challenge for the title,” the source added.
