Teams in North Africa, Denmark and Belgium have shown interest in Orlando Pirates striker Evidence Makgopa, and now the Siya crew finds out the latest on the Bafana Bafana star.
Siya sources close to the player have indicated that the Buccaneers may be willing to let the former Baroka FC striker leave, but only at the right price.
Otherwise, Bucs would be happy to keep Makgopa at the team as they have a long season ahead with domestic and Caf football.
“They have finally put the price on his head now. They are looking at not less that R30 million for him to move away from Pirates.
“At first they didn’t want him to leave but they feel like this could be the right time for them to cash in on him.”
“Now, that they have put up the price, they are just waiting for the teams to make their official offers, then negotiations can start,” said the Siya source.
“Yes, the price is there now and it’s R30 million,” the source underlined.
Soccer-Laduma stated that Pirates have been working on holding onto the striker, but they feel like they have to give him a chance to play in Europe if that opportunity comes.
“They let other strikers go because of their hopes (to play abroad). With Makgopa, now that interest in growing, they are resigned to losing him (eventually) and working with their remaining strikers including youngster Boitumelo Radiopane,” the second source stated.
