Orlando Pirates have secured one of their long-term targets as they look to close the gap on Mamelodi Sundowns for the new season.
Pirates had already wrapped up four signings ahead of their MTN8 game against SuperSport United two weekends ago.
At beginning of the transfer window, Pirates offloaded six players. Souiabou Marou, Fortune Makaringe, Siyabonga Mpontshane, Kermit Erasmus, Richard Ofori and Thabang Monare.
They then added Vincent Pule who played against them and impressed in the colours of SuperSport.
This aiming to make room for some new signings which they hope will take them to the next level. They had done so by adding four players.
Pirates had signed Thalente Mbatha on a permanent deal and Selaela Rasebotja from SuperSport United on a free.
In attacking areas, they have also added the likes of Gilberto. The Angolan costing R10 million from Petro de Luanda.
The blond-haired winger won’t be the only wideman signed by the club, with Thuso Moleleki also a new addition to the cause.
It was believed that there are still a few positions that they want to strengthen ahead of next season.
Last week, it was revealed that Pirates had agreed a deal with Stellenbosch for the signing of Deano van Rooyen.
This deal in question was subject to personal terms. Now those personal terms have also been agreed as the club officially announced the right back as signing number five.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club Is pleased to announce the signing of Deano van Rooyen from Stellenbosch FC.
“The 27-year-old has signed a three year contract with the Buccaneers, which includes an additional two-year option.
