Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly midfielder Phakamani Mahlambi has been spotted at a new club campaigning in the Betway Premiership in a bid to secure a return to pro football.

The one-time prodigal son of South African football has been without a club since a brief stint with Chippa United in 2021.

He recently briefly trained with Durban City FC in a bid to secure a contract, but that move never materialised.

In a new twist, Mahlambi has now been spotted training with TS Galaxy.

The 28-year-old was fully involved in Thursday’s training session with the Rockets, who return to competitive action on Sunday, where they will host Golden Arrows.

He came through Wits under Gavin Hunt and penned a big-money move to Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

However, after just a season, the winger was back in South Africa with Mamelodi Sundowns.

The speedy winger also failed to impress at Chloorkop and parted ways with the club in 2022.

At the end of the spectrum, Seluleko Mahlambi, his younger brother, has been a bright spark in an ambitious and youthful Galaxy outfit that made it as far as the semi-finals of this season’s Carling Knockout.

The two brothers will be hoping to find the right tune at a club that has revived the careers of multiple players, including Samir Nurkovic, Sphesihle Maduna, and Khulumani Ndamane.
