Patrick “Tito” Maswanganyi is a South African Professional football player who is currently playing for the Betway Premiership side Orlando Pirates.

The former Supersport united star joined the Buccaneers at the beginning of last season from the Tshwane based side.

Early life

Tito was born on the 4th of April 1998 in one of the biggest townships in South Africa, Tembisa.

He grew up in Gauteng, which was the right place for someone who has passion in football.

Football Career

Patrick Maswanganyi is a product of the Stars of Africa Football Academy and spent his early years as a professional footballer in Portugal, where he turned out for UD Oliveirense and Académica OAF.

Having returned home ahead of the 2022/23 season, where he turned out for SuperSport United, “Tito” was quickly on Orlando Pirates’ radar, subsequently joining the Club in June 2023.

Maswanganyi grew up idolising ex-Bucs midfielder Teko Modise, and lists Norwegian star Martin Odegaard among his favourite current players.

Despite being 26 years already, Patrick Maswangayi does not have that much history in the professional level. However, he is writing his own history book at the Buccaneers as he is one of the most loved players.

Not only is he loved by Orlando Pirates supporters, even the South African supporters do like him a lot and has already been named “I-Ambulance Yase Tembisa”.

Trophies and Awards

Patrick Maswangayi won the MTN8 Cup on his debut season at the Buccaneers. Not only did he win the MTN8 Cup, however, he also won the Nedbank Cup where they managed to beat their arch rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

Orlando Pirates midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams were the standout winners at the 2023/24 PSL Awards held on Sunday evening.

Maswanganyi’s exceptional performance earned him the DStv Premiership Players’ Player of the Season, DStv Premiership Midfielder of the Season, and Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament awards.

Williams was honoured as the PSL Footballer of the Season and took home the DStv Premiership Goalkeeper of the Season award.

Orlando Pirates’ rising star Relebohile Mofokeng also made his mark, winning both the DStv Premiership Young Player of the Season and the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player of the Tournament awards.

Salary

Orlando Pirates or Patrick Maswangayiʼs representatives are yet to reveal how much the player makes at the Buccaneers per month.

However, it has been estimated that the player makes around R100 000 per month at the Sea robbers.
