Cops have opened a murder case.
The 82-year-old madala was found at the scene, waiting for police, after the gogo was stabbed and killed.
Tshwane district police spokesman Captain Johan van Dyk confirmed that a murder case was opened at the Mabopane cop shop.
“Police received a complaint about a murder, and on arrival, they found the suspect at the scene waiting for officers,” he said.
Van Dyk said that the suspect claimed he forcibly woke the victim after a verbal altercation they had on Monday, 13 October.
“A physical altercation emerged, which led to the suspect stabbing the wife in the neck area.”
Cops found the victim lying flat on the floor in a pool of blood.
“Two knives, a flat screwdriver, and a hammer were found on the kitchen countertop.”
“All weapons were covered in blood except for the hammer. The suspect also attempted to stab himself to commit suicide without success,” said van Dyk.
He said that emergency services declared the gogo dead on arrival, and the crime scene was processed by crime scene experts.
