Norodien new club: Former youth international winger Riyaad Norodien is continuing his African safari journey by moving into unchartered waters on the continent for the second year in a row.

According to kick Off Magazine, Norodien – who has featured for Orlando Pirates, Ajax Cape Town, Platinum Stars, Cape Town City, Cape Town All Stars, and Cape Umoya United in the domestic scene – spent the past season with DR Congo club DC Motema Pembe.

Riyaad Norodien has now crossed the border into neighbouring Rwanda where he has found a new club at Kiyovu Sports.

Juvenal Mvukiyehe, president of Kiyovu Sports confirmed to KickOff that Norodien has put pen-to-paper on a long-term deal.

“He [Norodien] has already joined for two years and has done good so far for us,” Mvukiyehe said.

Kiyovu Sports have won all their three league games of the 2022/23 Rwanda National League to date and will be keen to clinch the title that they lost by a single point to APR last season.

Norodien’s solitary appearance for the club so far was against Gorila when he was introduced as a substitute.

The deal appears to have been influenced by Kiyovu’s coach Alain-Andre Landeut who he worked under at Motema Pembe last year.

KickOff’s contacts in Rwanda confirm that the best-paid players in the league earn salaries of approximately USD1 500 (approx. R26 000).
