Mamelodi Sundowns forward Abubeker Nassir has reflected on opening his account for the club against Kaizer Chiefs this season and outlined his future career ambitions.

According to iDiski times, Nassir was heavily linked with a move to Chiefs before eventually being invited for an assessment and later signed by Masandawana.

The Ethiopia international started life in South Africa with aplomb, showing why he’s been so highly rated in his homeland.

His first of his three goals before suffering a quadriceps injury was against Amakhosi at a sold-out Loftus Versveld, which was a memorable moment for the 22-year-old.

“I was extremely happy to score my first goal for Sundowns during such a big match, in my mind, I knew I was pleasing the fans and also making my family and friends happy. They have all contributed to my success,” he said in Sundowns Magazine.

Nassir, who looks destined to become a legendary figure for his nation admits he’s aiming to impress at the Brazilians’ to attract overseas interest.

“I’m always working on improving myself daily but in the next 5 years, if I work hard, and achieve what’s required from my side with the help of the coaching team and the players, I would like to play in Europe,” he added.

“But right now, my focus is on working hard and delivering results for Sundowns.”

Abubeker Nassir will be aiming to work back to full fitness for the second half of the season that kicks off on New Year’s eve against Orlando Pirates.
