Abubeker Nassir’s former club Ethiopian Coffee has boldly predicted the Mamelodi Sundowns attacker will soon attract interest from European teams.
Nassir has already scored thrice in four appearances (only one of those appearances has been a start) since joining Sundowns.
He scored 36 goals in 47 appearances in the last two years at Ethiopian Coffee in the Ethiopian Premier League.
“The potential of Abubeker is huge and I think you have seen it,” Fekade Mamo, the president of Ethiopian Coffee told KickOff.
“Give him two to three years and he will probably join one of the elite clubs in Europe.
“Even today he can join one of the elite European clubs, there is no doubt about that.
“Now that you have seen his performance, I think you can agree that there is no doubt about his potential.
“He is fully dedicated to his football and not like other players who seek fame wanting to attract public interest and end up losing the football quality.
“Abubeker always concentrates on his football and is a humble person with the potential to be one of Ethiopia’s greatest players.
“Here in Ethiopia, many footballers are already trying to emulate Abubeker and join him outside the country.
“He is a great example to Ethiopian football,” says Mamo while stating how difficult it has been to replace Nasir.
The 22-year-old was the club’s biggest transfer deal ever.
“We cannot replace Abubeker easily.
“You cannot.
“You can only try.
“You cannot 100% replace him.
“We have a number of young talents that are coming up that I hope will follow in Abubeker’s footsteps,” says Mamo.
