Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rhulani Mokwena has alerted that the 12-time PSL champions are set to announce changes within their technical team in the coming days.

According to SABC Sport, Mokwena, who became the sole head coach after initially sharing the responsibility with Manqoba Mngqithi, confirmed that the club would make pronouncements regarding more changes to the technical staff.

The club have already parted ways with fitness trainer Riedoh Berdien and assistant goalkeeper coach Marcus Mashilo, but Mokwena has denied reports that he expelled them.

“The choice of word [expel] sends a wrong message, and I would refrain from using that word. It is okay for any football club that has appointed a new coach to make changes in the technical team,” the former assistant coach told the media.

“So that you know – the club will make the necessary announcement regarding more changes in the technical team soon, but using the word ‘expel’ is a bit extreme, but I understand.”

He further announced that the club is moving in a different direction under his tutelage and insisted there was nothing untoward in technical changes when a new coach is employed.

“There will be more changes because the club has allowed me to be the head coach and they have given me their full support, and mine is to reward them, and I need a strong team as I cannot do it alone,” he emphasised.

“The club will announce the new changes to the technical team soon.”
