McKenzie previously revealed that if Adetshina were to win the Miss SA competition and it was proven that she was not South African, there would be an uproar.

Adetshina previously revealed to Sowetan: “My dad is a proud Nigerian and my mother was born and raised in SA but has roots from Mozambique. My mom’s family still lives in Soweto and I visit them from time to time.”

The Miss SA top nine finalist turned off her Instagram comments on Wednesday, 7 August following the department’s revelation.
