Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Mandla Masango has pinpointed the three priority positions he wants to see his former team make signings in as they fight to revive their fortunes.

The 33-year-old believes it’s only a matter of time before the Soweto giants redeem themselves and pointed out that Chiefs need to bolster their striking force, and get a natural number six and a left-back.

Masango is certain that Arthur Zwane can bring back the club’s glory days only if he is given more time and the support he needs.

He was speaking during the Carling Black Label Cup press conference at Bryanston on Monday.

“I think with time Chiefs stand a chance to bring back the glory days with a few quality additions, they can conquer,” he told the media.

“For me, I think they need striking force, maybe one or two. And also, I think they need a number six of Willard Katsande’s calibre.

“And also maybe a centre-back and another left-back. If Sifiso Hlanti gets injured, who will they play?  That’s my opinion where I think they need to reinforce.”

Masango is confident that with Zwane at the helm, Chiefs will benefit something, but he has warned there is no guarantee the ‘Mangethe’ can deliver success.

The ex-SuperSport United man won two league titles and two domestic cups during his stay at the Glamour Boys between 2007 and 2015.

”I think they are slowly rebuilding the team. Slowly but surely, I think you can see the identity of the club where wingers like Kgaogelo Sekgota take on players head-on. But it’s just that final pass and final decision that they lack,” he added.

“But slowly, they are coming up right. It’s just a matter of time. Maybe if they could get three or four additions, I think they will be there.”
