Multi-award-winning actress and media personality Manaka Ranaka pours her heart out in a touching birthday tribute to her late eldest daughter Katlego Ranaka, who would have turned 25 on Saturday, 1 November.
The Generations: The Legacy star took to Instagram to remember her daughter, who passed away in January 2025, describing the pain of facing Katlego’s first birthday without her.

“Today, you would’ve turned 25. Our first 1 November without you,” she wrote.
The 46-year-old actress, who has been open about her healing journey since the tragic loss, said writing the message brought back deep emotions.
“I write this with a huge lump in my throat and tears soaking my pillow, knowing we will never see you again in the physical. That fact alone aches my heart. My chest tightens and my womb hurts just thinking about it,” she shared.
Manaka said she spent the night before Katlego’s birthday sleepless, replaying memories of the day she brought her firstborn into the world.
“I haven’t slept since yesterday, anticipating this day. The day I gave birth to you. Today, 25 years ago, is a day I will never forget. And you my dear 1st born child, I will never forget you,” she added.
She ended her heartfelt post by revealing that the family was marking the day with both sorrow and celebration.
“Today, is bittersweet as we unveil your stone and celebrate your birthday. A life worth celebrating,” she concluded.
The emotional post was quickly flooded with messages of love and support from friends, family, and fans, all offering comfort to the grieving mum.
Her sister Dineo Ranaka also expressed her pain: “And just like that… it hurts all over again.”
Actress and author Refilwe Modiselle sent words of comfort.
“I’m sending you so much love and comforting energy, Sis. God knows. Phephi. Happy heavenly birthday, Kat,” she wrote.
