Tsakani woman is thanking her ancestors and a God-sent angel after surviving a bloody encounter with cold-hearted tsotsis.
The victim was returning home to Ext 22 in Ekurhuleni from a relative’s house when the horror began.

Just as she reached for her gate, two thugs pounced on her, hungry for her handbag and cellphone.
“I saw them come running. One of them grabbed me, and that’s when I realised I was being robbed,” she told Daily Sun.
The terrified woman let out blood-curdling screams, hoping her neighbours would come to her rescue.
But instead of help, she heard the sound of doors locking and keys turning.
“I screamed several times to alert my neighbours, but none of them came out. They locked themselves inside their houses,” she said, with her voice filled with disappointment.
The thugs didn’t just want her bag, they wanted blood. During the struggle, the woman was stabbed in the head.
“I couldn’t even see who these tsotsis were because my face was covered in blood,” she said.
Just as she thought it was the end, a brave man, whom she now calls her angel, charged towards the danger.
The hero didn’t back down when one of the thugs turned the knife on him.
He fought like a lion and overpowered the attackers. It was only when he called for help that the rest of the community finally came out of their shells.
Once the crowd gathered, the tables turned.
The community grabbed the thugs and gave them a beating, leaving them beaten to a pulp before police arrived.
The victim, who was rushed to hospital for her head wound, is now calling for more ubuntu in the streets.
“When someone screams for help, let’s get out and not hide. Coming out could save a life,” she pleaded.
She also pointed a finger at the municipality, demanding high-mast lights for Ext 22.
She said thugs are preying on residents because the area is dark at night.
While the woman counts her blessings, four suspects are now in the cells.
Captain Nelda Sekgobela, spokeswoman for Ekurhuleni district police, confirmed that Tsakani cops are investigating a case of attempted murder.
Zweli Dlamini, spokesman for Ekurhuleni Municipality, urged residents of Ext 22 to attend the Integrated Development Plan public meetings which will start soon.

“It’s through IDP meetings that we are able to get things people need and allocate the budget accordingly.
“We urge people to attend because that’s where they’ll be able to tell us what kind of service delivery they want in their areas,” said Dlamini.
