A tragic incident occurred when a man fell from the N2 bridge, in an alleged suicide, at the Umgeni Interchange, on Saturday afternoon, 20 September 2025.
Just after 12h30, KZNVIP Control Centre received multiple reports via social media regarding a suicide incident at the N2 bridge joining Umgeni Road.

KZNVIP Tactical Officers and Medical Teams were immediately dispatched.
Upon arrival, KZNVIP Officers were informed by members of the public that a black TSI VW Polo had pulled over near the bridge and a male exited the vehicle before climbing onto the ledge.
Moments later, the individual jumped off as per witnesses who attempted to stop him. The exact circumstances and motive cannot be confirmed at this stage.
The victim’s identity could not be established at the scene, as no wallet or form of identification was found.

KZNVIP Paramedics assessed the individual but sadly declared him deceased as he showed no signs of life
SAPS later arrived on scene and the matter was handed over for further investigation.
