A man (38) has been arrested in connection with two counts of murder and attempted murder that happened in Extension 17, Mamelodi East in Tshwane on Sunday, 26 October 2025.
The suspect was arrested on Monday, 27 October 2025.

Tshiamo Moramaga (22) and her cousin Baleseng Moramaga (21) were brutally killed in Extension 17, not far from their home on Sunday, 26 October.
Gauteng Police spokeswoman Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said: “The police investigation revealed that a third victim, who was shot during the incident, is receiving medical treatment at hospital.
“Acting on this information, a joint team consisting of detectives from Gauteng Provincial Serious and Violence Crime Unit, Provincial Crime Intelligence, and Mamelodi East Detectives, arrested the suspect at a filling station in Pretoria,” she said.
She further said that the suspect is expected to appear at the Mamelodi Magistrate Court on Wednesday, 29 October 2025.
Sibeko said that police have opened two counts of murder after the bodies of two women aged 21 and 22 were found with gunshot wounds in Mamelodi East on 26 October.
Political parties and civic organisations who visited the home where the cousins were renting condemned the killing.
NotInMyName International secretary general Themba Masango said: “This tragedy is a stark and painful reminder of the epidemic of gender-based violence that continues to plague our nation.”
He said that they are in solidarity with the Moramaga family and community.
“Our deepest condolences go to the family, friends, and loved ones of Tshiamo and Baleseng. We stand with you in this unimaginable pain and trauma,” he said.
ANC Tshwane regional secretary George Matjila said they are appalled and dismayed by the inhumane, senseless, and brutal killing of the two young women in Mamelodi East.

“We condemn without equivocation the spate of wanton but heinous killings that have become the hallmark of Tshwane townships, particularly Mamelodi and Soshanguve.
“We offer our most sincere condolences to the Moramaga family, the extended family and friends,” he said.
