Former Chippa United head coach Morgan Mammila was left furious after being snubbed for the Premier Soccer League Coach of the Month awards.

Mammila, who was appointed as a Chippa United head coach in September, took the league by storm, winning his first four games in charge after replacing Dane Klate.

It’s a feat that wasn’t achieved by any other Chippa coach, as previous winning runs by the club were three league wins in a row.

As a consequence, the Limpopo-born tactician became the first coach in the history of the Chilli Boys to win four games in a row, beating AmaZulu, Marumo Gallants, Kaizer Chiefs and Sekhukhune United.

However, he was overlooked for the Coach of the Month award for September/October, with Gavin Hunt receiving the accolade.

The SuperSport United coach picked up five wins, one draw and one defeat over this period, while Mammila had his four wins, but also one defeat and one draw – with Klate being in charge of the first two Chippa games in September.

“I became the first [Chippa] coach to win four [league] games in a row. The first one to do at Chippa United. With the depth I had I did that,” he told iDiski Times.

“I don’t know of any First time Head Coach who has won his first four games in DStv Premiership or ABSA Premiership as the Head Coach. Give me one.”

Mammila has since departed Chippa United after a barren run saw him collect just one victory in the 11 games following his four-match winning start in the DStv Premiership.

The outspoken coach also announced his retirement from coaching after his Chippa departure.
