Suspended Marumo Gallants head coach Dan ‘Dance’ Malesela has dismissed suggestions that he has failed at the DStv Premiership strugglers.

Malesela has been replaced by relegation savior Dylan Kerr with the task of surviving the drop.

The disgruntled Orlando Pirates legend says he is not happy about getting a salary without having worked for it.

“I didn’t go to training after I was officially told I was on special leave,” He tells KickOff.

“It’s not a matter of me accepting the club’s decision or not, it’s a decision taken by the club.

“I don’t know how long the special leave is going to last.

“I don’t know how long; I don’t know what the conditions are.

“It’s a problem because getting paid while remaining away from work is a challenge on its own.

“I think it’s just a phase [Gallants’ poor results], you go through phases.

“You have to learn from them.

“I just think it’s a phase, I don’t think it has anything to do with failing

“Yes, losing players counts against you when you don’t have adequate  replacements.

“If we were playing bad and had one match where I can point and say, ‘yeah here we played really bad, and we deserve to lose’, then I would say it’s a failure.

“But that was not the case. I didn’t fail Gallants.”

Gallants currently sit rock bottom of the league standings with 15 points from 20 matches played.
