Orlando Pirates have signed AmaZulu captain Makhehleni Makhaula on Deadline Day.

Makhaula, 33, had agreed a pre-contract with the Buccaneers but that his move has now been brought forward after both clubs agreed on a January deal.

“AmaZulu Football Club have reached an agreement with Orlando Pirates for the release of club captain and midfielder, Makhehleni Makhaula which takes effect in the current transfer window,” Usuthu announced via a statement.

Club President, Sandile Zungu has hailed the midfielder’s professionalism since joining Usuthu in 2020, which probably played a role on his early transfer.

“Makhaula leaves with our full blessings,” Zungu said.

“He has served the club very well as captain and was the recipient of the President’s and the player’s player of the year awards two seasons ago with merit.”

Makhaula has made 83 appearances in all competition for Usuthu.
