Luke Baartman has been declared by the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber as a free agent and is now free to join Kaizer Chiefs.
According to FarPost and other sources, Amakhosi may now proceed in signing Luke Baartman as the 19-year-old is now a free-agent.
This development comes exactly a week after Asanele Velebayi was also declared a free agent with Chiefs announcing his signing on a long-term contract, as the ex-Cape Town Spurs captain fulfilled his lifelong dream of wearing the Amakhosi colours.
Meanwhile, Cape Town Spurs have filed a review application with the SAFA Arbitration Tribunal regarding the Velebayi matter.
It is expected that they will follow the same route concerning Baartman.
However, for now, the decision allows Amakhosi to proceed with signing the 19-year-old forward.
Former Cape Town Spurs wonder-kid Luke Baartman is considered a fabulous young prospect in South African football and has impressed in a few displays he has made during the course of the season.
Baartman has registered two goals in the DStv Premiership in seven appearances in the competition.
The 19-year-old is a product of the Cape Town Spurs youth academy and made his debut in the PSL against Orlando Pirates in October 2023.
Baartman scored his first PSL goal against Kaizer Chiefs in November 2023 and even though Chiefs won the game, that didn’t take away from the young man’s shine during the evening.
