A man who almost buried a doll still can’t believe what his girlfriend did to him. Nkululeko Zulu said he’s now struggling to cope.
This after his girlfriend of two years, Diyana Malukeke (44) allegedly fooled him into thinking they were going to have a baby, only to find out it was all a lie.
The 44-year-old from Machibini in Mandeni, northern KZN told Daily Sun that he was excited when Diyana, who lives in Newlands, Durban, told him she was pregnant with his baby.
He said:
“She used to come a lot in the early stages of the ‘pregnancy’. But she stopped visiting me as time went on. She then told me she had given birth.”
“It was strange to me that she didn’t send me a picture of the baby after giving birth. While I was still thinking about this she informed me the baby is dead.”
“So, I started preparing for the funeral because my family said we should bury the child at home. I told her she has to come to my home. I paid money for her and the baby to be transported from Newlands to Mandeni,” he said.
He said he bought food to be eaten on the day of the burial and men in the area helped him dig the grave next to other family members.
He said Diyana was expected to arrive on Friday, 1 August, but instead arrived on Saturday afternoon, 2 August.
“She arrived in a van, jumped out of the vehicle and carried the coffin herself. We then prepared to bury the baby. But my big brother asked me to open the coffin so I could see the baby and wipe its face.
“The woman refused, but my brother insisted and the coffin was opened. I almost fainted when I saw a doll in the coffin. The doll was dressed in baby clothes,” he said.
Nkululeko said his girlfriend fled during the confusion and has not been seen since.
“I don’t understand why she did this to me. I am hurt and confused. She has put me through a lot. She used to ask for money during the fake pregnancy and I used to send it. I spent money buying food and preparing for a funeral only to find that there’s no baby,” he said.
He added that as a grave was already dug next to other graves, they ended up slaughtering a goat and burying it.
“I’m struggling to cope. My friends have booked a counseling session t for me. I’m preparing to open a case against her in Point Road Durban because police in Mandeni advised me to report this in Durban.”
“I’m also going to meet with the induna regarding this matter.”
Induna Lungisani Khuzwayo told Daily Sun he’s aware of this shocking matter.
“What happened to that family is a disgrace in the village. I’ve reported the matter, and it will be heard on Thursday, 7 August. Firstly, they didn’t tell me there was a death in their family, I heard about this on the day of the incident.
“And also the family must cleanse the village following this. Men in the village went to help them but in the end there was no funeral. I’m not gonna speak about the woman because she is not from our village,” he said.
