Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Knowledge Musona has been released by Saudi club Al-Okhdood after a successful stint that helped the team secure top-flight survival.

The 35-year-old forward’s departure is part of the club’s revamp of its foreign roster, with Al-Okhdood looking to bring in new signings that better fit its tactical vision.

Musona, who joined Al-Okhdood last season, made key contributions to the team’s survival in the top division. Despite his efforts, the club’s management decided not to renew his contract, citing a need for fresh talent.

The release comes as no surprise, as reports emerged in June that Musona was in contract talks with Al-Okhdood, but a deal could not be reached.

Musona’s departure marks the end of an era for the Zimbabwean striker at Al-Okhdood, where he played alongside other foreign players who were also released.

Musona’s next move remains uncertain, but his experience and skillset are likely to attract interest from other clubs.
