Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Itumeleng Khune has made the transition from playing professionally into entering the working world.

On his Instagram account, Itumeleng Khune has been giving his followers a look at his next chapter, away from Kaizer Chiefs.

The 37-year-old posted pictures of himself on various construction sites, wearing various PPE items.

Khune told one of his followers that he was working as a health and safety officer.

He captioned one post: “Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can.”

In another, he said, “Allow yourself to be a beginner at things. No one starts as excellent.”

Last week, Khune revealed another big boss move, which involved partnering with a betting company, TopBet.

Speaking to the media following the announcement, the father-of-two claimed that he was a shareholder in the company.

He said: “I must emphasise that I’m not a brand ambassador for Topbet, but I’m the owner. I’m excited to make a difference in our communities.”

Khune – who graduated from the Player Transition Programme at Gordon Institute of Business Science in 2022, added: “I’ve got shares in the business. I know that most South African brands that approach the players and celebrities approach them for an ambassador role. With me, it’s different.

“We need to start teaching footballers and all other businessmen and women out there that there are bigger opportunities out there when you meet the right people, sit down with them, and have a talk around the boardroom table.”

Earlier this month, Itumeleng Khune is believed to have quietly retired from Kaizer Chiefs after his contract for the 2024/2025 season was not renewed.

In May, the club honoured the star for his 25 years of service, including his time at the youth academy.
