Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has questioned whether Al Ahly are using Percy Tau to his strength or expecting too much from the South African.
The former Kaizer Chiefs winger was analysing CAF Champions League Group B encounter between the Egyptian giants and Mamelodi Sundowns, which ended 2-2 in Cairo over the weekend.

Khanye argued that since Pitso Mosimane’s departure the Bafana Bafana international is not getting the necessarily support on the field with his teammates seemingly expecting miracles from him under new coach Marcel Koller.
“Truly speaking there are a lot of expectations from the guy. Very talented player, one of the best talents South Africa has produced. The thing is I don’t think they accommodate him in that team,” he said on iDiskiTV.
“They expect miracles from him every time he has the ball. I don’t think the support is enough. As you said he was playing number 9. Look at the players surrounding him when he has the ball, are they supporting [him] enough?
“Because when they have the ball he runs to the box and they expect him to eliminate even two players. He is human after all, he cannot dribble every time he has the ball. He has to be supported when he has the ball.
“Yes we know what Percy can do individually, he can take on players individually, he is able to start and finish a move. But I couldn’t understand why the coach in the second half played him away from the goal posts, especially on the right side, very difficult for him to cut in.
“I’m sorry to say this but I think they brought on [Mohamed] Sherif to eliminate Percy. I think if they played both of them [at the same time], I think there would be a combination. These are skilful players. A skilful player is clever, he is someone with football intelligence and able to understand others. So it’s very, very easy for them to combine.

“Here they don’t play according to his strength. Like I said, in the second half they used him on the right side to cut in but when he got the ball they ran to the box expecting miracles. He was not playing according to his strength.
“So I can’t say he has dropped form or he is improving. For me since he has joined Al Ahly truly speaking I haven’t seen the best. Pitso Mosimane has left, so the question is are they playing him according to his strength and is he happy, that’s the biggest question I have but he is not playing according to his strength.”
