As Kaizer Chiefs’ dismal away record continued, the absence of a number of players including star attacker Khama Billiat has been explained.

Arthur Zwane’s men did have the chance to go up to seventh by beating Marumo Gallants at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Sunday; however, it was yet another sloppy performance from the Glamour Boys who could only muster a 1-1 draw.

Interestingly, there were a number of players missing from Zwane’s matchday squad.

Barring Reeve Frosler who is out with an injury, Chiefs revealed via their official website that Khama Billiat, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Siyabonga Ngezana and Cole Alexander were all missing due to various reasons.

Billiat, according to the website, is understood to have suffered a knee injury which saw him miss the match, while Ngezana and Alexander were ruled out with a bout of flu.

‘Mshini’ is said to have attended to a family bereavement.

Chiefs’ draw means that they find themselves at the wrong end of the DStv Premiership table after seven matches, sitting in 14th place with just eight points out of a possible 21.

Their next match is against their former coach Gavin Hunt and his SuperSport United charges at the FNB Stadium on 17 September.
