According to Daily Sun, Fifi was described as a best player by family and friends.

He was laid to rest at Kanana Cemetery in Hammanskraal on Saturday, 28 June 2025.

Kgothatso “Fifi” Masoma (21), who was playing for Junior Kings FC, and Karabo  Rammile (19), who was playing for Hammanskraal Sports Academy FC, were hit and killed by a car in Hammanskraal on Wednesday, 18 June 2025.

They were returning from watching Manchester City compete against Wydad Casablanca in a Fifa Club World Cup match currently taking place in the United States.

Mourners described Fifi as a talented player to come from Hammanskraal recently.

The mourners said they lost a gifted soccer star in their kasi who was humble and disciplined.

Fifi’s uncle Levy Masoma stated that they held a funeral service at Temba Methodist Church in Hammanskraal.

He emphasised that his nephew was loved and admired by many, especially young people.

“We still remember our kid. We want the killer to rot in jail. In fact, he must rot in jail. He killed innocent young lives. He destroyed their future,” he said.

Levy said he would miss Fifi as he would call him and say, let’s go and watch soccer.

“He will tell me that he will score today and will dedicate the goal to me and indeed will score,” he said.

Fifi’s cousin Rebone Masoma (19) said: “We were not expecting his death. We are in great pain. We will just accept it as nothing we can do. He was humble and bubble.”

Wandile Baris (19), a friend and teammate, thanked everyone who came to say goodbye to Fifi.

“He is the person who will motivate me in a team. He had discipline and didn’t like grooving, but his first love was playing soccer,” he said.

Wandile said he would play in the playoffs to be promoted to the Tshwane Regional League, as that is what Fifi wanted to see happen.

Keoratile Phiri (22), a friend, said he gave him the nickname Ronaldo because of his football skills and scoring prowess.

“He was a loving and caring person. He was a good player. I even gave him the nickname Ronaldo. He liked Mamelodi Sundowns,” she said.

Her message to Fifi is, rest well, my boy. I love you a lot and will forever love you and will always miss you.

Lucky Letsoalo, a member of Apostolic Jerusalem Church in Sabbath, said that Fifi was a good-standing member at their Hammanskraal branch.

“We are heartbroken. We lost a member, and he left a gap in the church. May his soul rest in peace,” he said.

Karabo was also laid to rest in Hammanskraal in Tshwane on Saturday, 28 June 2025.

Gauteng police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo said: “A case of driving while under the influence of alcohol and culpable homicide has been opened at Temba Police Station, and the suspect was arrested.”
