Former Orlando Pirates forward Justin Shonga has found himself a new club after he was among the players released by Sekhukhune United.

Shonga, 25, is heading back to North Africa after spending the second half of the 2021/22 campaign with Babina Noko.

The striker, who netted twice in 10 appearances for Sekhkhune, has agreed to join Botola Pro side Maghreb de Fès, iDiski Times revealed

Despite being released by Sekhukhune United, Shonga’s profile at the age of 25 and his undeniable talent have managed to attract some of the biggest clubs on the continent since leaving his homeland of Zambia.

Fully aware that time is running out to fulfil his potential, Shonga has expressed his interest in a move to Morocco, with his visa set to be finalised this week.

He agreed to a deal in principle, but while his move is not yet 100% finalised, images of him in his new side’s kit have been leaked on social media already.

However, there was late interest from Algerian giants CR Belouizdad but Fès had made it known they would use him as a first-team starter and provide him with a life outside the city life of Rabat and Casablanca where careers can often become derailed for foreign imports, as reported in this week’s iDiski Times newspaper.

The Moroccan side would become his seventh club after his career started with Nkwazi FC.

He joined Pirates in 2017 and spent three years at Orlando Stadium, before stints with Tshakhuma, Cape Town City and Ismaily in Egypt.

From Ismaily he had joined Sekhukhune in January but was part of the club’s long release list ahead of the 2022/23 season.
