Orlando Pirates have given an injury update ahead of Saturday’s Soweto Derby with Thembinkosi Lorch being a doubt, while Nkosinathi Sibisi and Richard Ofori will miss out.

Head coach Jose Riveiro, who will miss the game due to suspension, usually holds his cards in terms of team news close to his chest and didn’t give much away in the pre-match press conference.

He did, though, insist that his own absence will not have a negative impact on his squad, because he has very capable backroom staff.

Riveiro and his assistants, however, will have to make due without injured duo Ofori and Sibisi, with the latter being sidelined in the last two games already, while Ofori hasn’t featured since before the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Meanwhile, Lorch and Goodman Mosele are both doubts for the club after picking up knocks in their previous games.

“Goodman Mosele and Thembinkosi Lorch each left the field prematurely over the last two games and might not feature, joining the likes of Nkosinathi Sibisi and Richard Ofori on the sidelines,” the Sea Robbers stated on their website.

Pirates enter the game in decent form and three points ahead of their Soweto rivals but have lost the last four successive league derbies.

A win could see them climb into second spot, if other results also go their way.
