Lefa Johannes Makgwathane was sadly killed while trying to stop an argument in Soshanguve.

According to Daily Sun, The family of Lefa Johannes Makgwathane want the man who stabbed him to death arrested.

The 44-year-old from Soshanguve, Tshwane, was stabbed to death on Saturday, 6 December while trying to stop an argument in his kasi.

Johannes’ nephew, Thabang Mahlangu (32) said his uncle came back from work and went to check his girlfriend.

“When my uncle was in that home, he found a young man arguing and disrespecting his own mother and tried to stop the argument.”

“The young man took a knife and stabbed my uncle, who later died at a local clinic,” he said.

He said his uncle was stabbed in the head and chest. He alleged that the suspect is a Lesotho national.

“My uncle asked the young man to respect his elders. The man responded by saying: ‘Who are you to tell me how I should talk or do’? then the young man went for a knife. That’s how my uncle got killed,” he said.

Thabang said they want the perpetrator arrested.

“We are pleading with police to help us by arresting the killer,” he said.

Thabang described his uncle as loving, caring, supportive and always happy.

Johannes’ mum, Maria (78) said: “I’m still shocked and need answers. My son was not ill. He just left home and told me I’m coming back just now. My son was always home. We are in great pain. The suspect is nowhere to be found.”

Community leader Phineas Mothapo (55) said they’re traumatised and shocked by Johannes’ death.

“We knew him from childhood. The mum of the suspect is not showing any sympathy. We want the suspect to arrested and to rot in jail,” he said.

Gauteng police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo said: “The police have opened a case of murder and are searching for the suspect after a man was allegedly stabbed and killed in Soshanguve on Saturday, 6 December.”

Johannes will be laid to rest at Crossing Cemetery in Soshanguve on Sunday, 14 December.
