Orlando Pirates have confirmed a double boost ahead of their clash with Mamelodi Sundowns, as Olisa Ndah and Thembinkosi Lorch are “nearing a return”.

Both players are yet to feature for the club in 2023, with Ndah being sidelined since before the previous league encounter with the log leaders, which the Buccaneers lost 2-0 on 30 December.

However, he did feature in 12 DStv Premiership games and 16 overall this campaign, being one of the defensive pillars in Jose Riveiro’s squad in the first half of the season.

Lorch, meanwhile, has been sidelined since August and only featured in five games for the Buccaneers this season so far.

Both, though, could potentially return to the squad this weekend, according to the latest statement by the club.

“Pirates have the likes of Olisa Ndah and Thembinkosi Lorch nearing a return after weeks on the sidelines,” the club said on their website.

Sundowns, meanwhile, still have some players on the sidelines, including the likes of Terrence Mashego and Nasir Abubeker.

In addition, the visitors will also miss attacking midfielder Marcos Allende, who was given his marching orders during the 2-0 win over Sekhukhune United and will start serving out a two-match suspension.

Both teams are on good form, with the Buccaneers winning three games in a row, while the Masandawana are on a 14-match winning streak in the league, with their last loss coming back September against SuperSport United.
