Who Is Eric Mathoho?
Eric Mathoho is Kaizer Chiefs football player who was born in Tshiombo, a village close to Thohoyandou. Starting at a young age, he devoted himself to the sport of soccer.
Kicking the ground in the corn fields at harvest time caused his toenails to come loose, and he sustained injuries to both feet from the ensuing play.
Bloemfontein-born Eric Mathoho has made a name for himself in the club scene. After going through the preliminary rounds with two different players while playing for the Dolphins FC in Limpopo, Celtic Mathoho signed with Bloemfontein Celtic in July 2009.
Mathoho debuted as a first-choice player for Clinton Larsen on 2 February 2010 against Mamelodi Sundowns. He was named Man of the Match for his performance. In a 5-0 victory over Supersport United on February 27, 2011, he scored his career-best goal.
Mathoho’s possible move to Europe?
In light of his impressive performances in his first half year as a professional, he was linked with Maccabi Haifa and went under investigation with FC Twente, but the €1 million agreement would never materialize.
The deal failed because of Dutch monetary restrictions that sought to regulate the type of foreign players brought into the country by mandating that they be paid very well. Originally, Douglas was supposed to leave in exchange for Mathoho after being linked to both Juventus and Bayern Munich, but the deal fell through due to financial difficulties.
