Chippa United coach Morgan Mammila has responded to questions how it feels to beat coaches with higher qualifications.
On Saturday, Mammila lead the Chilli Boys to a 2-1 victory over Kaizer Chiefs at Moses Mabhida, making it three wins in three games since he took over from Daine Klate.
Mammila’s run is even more impressive, considering he only got a CAF D license, while many of his opponents have higher badges, including Zwane who holds a CAF A license.
In a recent interview, Mammila was asked how it feels to beat coaches with higher licenses, but Mammila brushed the qualifications talk to the side.
“Honestly, to me they are just my colleagues. I’ve been working with most of them for quite some time,” he told iDiski Times
“I was with Gavin Hunt here, I learned a lot from him, Nyirenda, learned a lot from him, all these coaches, you know, I learned.
“I’m one person who is not shy to take my phone and phone Micho and ask why were you playing like this? What do you want to achieve? And they will explain to me, then I learn and mix with the little knowledge that I have.”
Mammila also revealed which playing style he has adopted as a coach.
“To be honest there are so many people. I watch how Sundowns play and analyse them,” he added.
“I try to play the Micho-style of Pirates at that time, because he was someone that I was phoning and finding out how he is playing like that.
“It’s a mix, so I wouldn’t say a particular coach but almost all the coaches that I have access to. I also call Steve and ask him how do you achieve this?
“He also shares with me then I grab it. I grab pieces here and there and combine them, but one thing for sure, I love good football.”
