Hawks arrest Ethiopian man in Joburg amid human trafficking allegations.

He was found to have allegedly kidnapped 12 half-naked alleged teenage boys.

The case was postponed to Friday, 16 January for a bail application.

The accused has been slapped with 12 counts of kidnapping and one count of failing to stop on police instruction.

The Ethiopian national appeared in the Booysens Magistrates Court on Monday, 12 January.

This time, he was represented by a lawyer, who has since indicated that he will be unavailable for proceedings on the day.

Since his last court appearance, on a separate matter, the 12 young adults also appeared in the same court on charges of being in the country illegaly.

Their case was also postponed to 15 January for a possible guilty plea.

Medical assessment has since established that the 12 were not necessarily teenagers as previously reported but young adults aged between 22 and 33.
