A cash-in-transit (CIT) guard was shot and wounded during a robbery on Edendale Road on Friday evening.
The incident occurred near the BP garage near Caluza around 6pm.
According to KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service, a CIT vehicle was forcibly stopped and bombed.
“KwaZulu Private Ambulance Service responded to the scene where paramedics rendered immediate medical attention to stabilise a patient, who had sustained a gunshot wound,” reads the statement.
The patient was transported to a nearby hospital.
The area is still active as the SAPS are on scene and investigating, and traffic has been backed up for a few kilometres.
KZN SAPS have confirmed the incident and will provide further details soon.
