Just after 8am this morning, Mi7’s Emergency Medical Services was dispatched after reports of a multi-vehicle crash on the N3 near Lynnfield Park in Pietermaritzburg.

Medics found that three trucks had collided. Four occupants in these vehicles were left injured.

One of them was still entrapped in the wreckage, and local firefighters and Mi7 rescue paramedics worked tirelessly to free him using the Jaws of Life.

He was thereafter stabilised on scene through Advanced Life Support interventions before being taken to hospital.

The other three were stabilised on scene and did not require transport to hospital.

While paramedics from multiple service providers were working at the scene, a bystander ran up to them and said another motorist waiting in the traffic backlog was suffering from a medical condition.

Paramedics from another service provider rushed to assist and found the patient was suffering from seizures.

Advanced Life Support interventions were administered and it is believed the patient was taken to hospital for further treatment.
