Former Mamelodi Sundowns and TS Sporting winger Thulani Cele has been sentenced 18 months in prison for stealing a cellphone.

According to Unplayable ZA, Nonhlanhla Shongwe, who is the aunt of Thulani Cele, confirmed to the media that indeed the former Mamelodi Sundowns winger is still in prison and has now been sentenced 18 months behind bars.
When Nonhlanhla Cele spoke to SA FM Sport On, she revealed that her nephew is still stuck in Georgia prison.
She further stated that the midfielder was sentenced on the 4th of December.

Even though the former Mamelodi Sundowns and TS Sporting winger is still behind bars, but the family still speaks to the player and he did assure them that he did not steal the phone.
“We can confirm that Thulani Cele is still in prison in Georgia. He has been sentenced to 18 months for robbery (stealing a cellphone) . He was advised to plead guilty for a lesser sentence”-Thulani’s Aunt Nonhlanhla Shongwe speaking to SAFMSportOn.
“Thulani was sentenced on the 4th of December. But prior to that he had been detained since June 2nd. We’re still not sure if the sentence will be backdated because we haven’t seen court documents. But we have been able to speak to him and he says he didn’t steal the phone.”

*Cele, who played in the Nedbank Cup Ke Yona talent search, traveled to Georgia for trials and was later arrested.
