A former Mamelodi Sundowns forward Emmanuel Baffour is in desperate need of funds after a motor vehicle accident left him in critical condition with severe injuries a month ago.
It was towards the end of last month that Ghana forward Emmanuel Baffour was reported to have been involved in an accident in Maryland, USA while returning from his usual night shift job.
According to the Montgomery Country Fire and Rescue Services, Baffour was transported to the hospital with Priority 1 trauma (life-threatening) after being extricated from his grey Nissan Sentra.

The cause of the collision was under investigation at the time.
According to Ghanasoccernet.com, a GoFundMe account has now been set up to raise funds for Baffour’s medical bills which amount to USD50 000 (approx. R900 000).
The Ghana site reports that only USD300 (approx. R5400) has been received to date for Baffour who remains admitted at the Medstar Hospital in Washington D.C.

“I am creating this fundraiser with humility in aid of Emmanuel Baffour’s medical and rehabilitation bills.
“On August 29, 2022, at 6a.m, Emmanuel was returning home from his usual night shift duty when he got involved in a horrific head-on collision accident.
“Emmanuel was found unconscious at the scene by local emergency responders and taken to the Medstar Hospital Washington DC where he is still on admission.
“He sustained a traumatic head injury, broken facial bones, multiple fractures and was in a coma for 10 days.
“He has since slowly regained consciousness and begun responding to the medical treatment and surgeries performed.
“Emma as popularly called is a devoted father to three lovely children (2 girls and 1 boy), as well as a husband, brother, and a great friend to everyone who knows him.
“Emmanuel is facing piling medical bills including hospitalization and rehabilitation.
“These funds are to ensure payment of all medical bills Emmanuel will pick up during his long, strenuous road to recovery.
“It will also assist his family in avoiding financial hardship.
“We need your financial assistance and support to get through this challenging period as well as wishes and prayers,” reads the GoFundMe statement.
Baffour was signed from Ghana club New Edubiase in July 2012 arriving at Chloorkop along Mumuni Abubakar when Johan Neeskens was in charge at the club.
He made three appearances for Sundowns before being released and returning home to join Ashanti Gold.
The 33-year-old won a single cap for The Black Stars.
