“This life after football is not easy, it has its own up and downs, and it requires a lot of adjustment,” Mngqibisa tells KickOff.

“I wish the contracts we signed with PSL clubs come with manuals guiding us on how to deal with life after football.

“At the moment, I have a job, and I’m part of the Taelo Motloung Foundation, where we help school kids, especially in the rural areas.

“I was lucky to get my Code 14 while still playing football. I used to tell my teammates they cannot predict life after football.

“Today I’m a truck driver collecting waste, I’m a cleaner, and I work in the waste management department.

“Though it’s under the Johannesburg municipality, we are still working as contractors.

“I’m an experienced truck driver now.

“I’ve also qualified as a physio, I’ve done sports therapy at school, and I was helping an ABC Motsepe League team as a physio until recently.

“After they noticed I had a Code 14, they asked me to drive their team bus.

“Another thing is I have just received my conditioning coach certificate.

“I can work as a masseur, fitness trainer and team bus driver as well.

“I want to go back to football through all this stuff I did at school, seeing that these days everybody wants to be a coach, forgetting that coaching is a calling, it’s not for everybody.

“I want to be maybe a masseur, can you imagine a former professional player rubbing another player’s thighs, making his body and injuries heal?

“I once got injured while playing for Tuks and had to go for an operation, the people who helped me during that were the masseurs.”
