Former Orlando Pirates striker Lyle Foster is reportedly set to return to English Premier League as Ipswich Town and Burnley are close to reaching an agreement.

According to IDiski times, the newly promoted side, Ipswich Town, are looking to sign the Bafana Bafana star on a loan deal with an option to make his stay permanent at the end of the season.

The 23-year-old is currently South Africa’s most expensive ever transfer after Burnley bought him for €11 million from KVC Westerlo in January 2023.

According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Foster is close to being loaned to Premier League newbies Ipswich Town and the deal would include an obligation to buy for €30 million (R594 million).

The deal is not yet finalised but clubs are in “advanced talks” over the South African striker.

Foster has made three appearances for Burnley under new coach Scott Parker in the Championship this season so far, setting up one goal.

He featured 24 times for the Clarets in the Premier League last season, scoring five goals and assisting three more. His fine early season form saw him pen a new deal until June 2028.

Both teams have until 30 August midnight to conclude the deal.
