Marumo Gallants have completed the signing of former Orlando Pirates and TS Galaxy midfielder midfielder Xola Mlambo.
Mlambo left Galaxy at the beginning of last season as he was no longer in the plans of head coach Sead Ramovic, with whom he reportedly had a fallout after the German mentor called him ‘lazy’.
However, for quite some time, he did not have his clearance in his possession, as it was allegedly held up by the Mpumalanga club despite the contract having been terminated, following certain disagreements between the two parties.
Then followed a legal battle as the one-time Orlando Pirates star lodged a case of outstanding salaries after having signed a two-year contract when he joined at the beginning of 2022/23.
He also needed his clearance in order to continue with his playing career.
In July, it was reported that the 33-year-old had lost his case at the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber, where he was ordered to pay the Rocket an amount of R120 000.
However, the Dobsonville-born man will be delighted that the bitter episode is behind him as he has joined Marumo as a free agent.
He has been lured to the club by head coach Dan Malesela, who rates him highly.
“Yes, he has signed. He is Marumo Gallants player,” said Malesela, smiling from ear to ear.
The club has also signed former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Phathutshedo Nange and defender Veluyeke Zulu, who had earlier surfaced at Baroka FC, only to ‘disappear’ and turn up at the top-flight returnees’ training ground.
