Another coach in the Dstv Premiership is set for another big move to Europe.
Maahier Davids is set to follow in his brother Fadlu Davids’ footsteps by moving to Europe in his next deal, Siya sources privy to the latest information have revealed.
The big news in local football this week has been that of the former Orlando Pirates co-coach securing a move to Lokomotiv Moscow in the Russian Premier League, as confirmed on Tuesday, where he has teamed up with Josef Zinnbauer whom he served under as an assistant at the Buccaneers.
News reaching the Siya crew is that Davids, who finished last season with Maritzburg United as an assistant to Ernst Middendorp, looks set for a move to Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam.
“Maahier Davids is set to leave for Amsterdam and will be involved in projects at Ajax,” confirmed a source.
“He is set to leave on the 11th of October and that’s another talented and highly qualified coach from South Africa going to take up a big challenge in Europe.
This is great for South African football and a step in the right direction for local coaches,” the source added.
Davids previously had a spell abroad when he served as an assistant to Middendorp at Saint George in Ethiopia in 2020.
