Mozambican midfielder Amansio Joao Pita ‘Neymar’ Canhembe will finally be joining a new club after spending an assessment period at Kaizer Chiefs.

According to KickOff, Neymar recently spent time at Naturena with Arthur Zwane choosing to prioritise acquiring a striker in the form of Congolese striker Christian Saile Basomboli.

Canhembe has also trained with Sekhukhune United in recent weeks but with none of the three foreign players eligible for permanent residence getting the papers allowing them to be ‘localised’ he hasn’t found a breakthrough.

Babina Noko have Roderick Kabwe (Zambia), Ali Badra Sangare (Ivory Coast), and Nigerian forward Chibuike Ohizu all eligible for SA papers.

This has meant Neymar will now be heading back home to Uniao Desportivo de Songo.

Songo are the champions of Mozambique and will join on a short-term deal like what Edmilson Dove had just before he joined Chiefs.

The 25-year-old will also get to play in the CAF Champions League next season.

He recently chose not to pursue the option of joining relegation bound Moroccan club Olympique Club de Khouribga after they tabled a written offer.

Neymar has recently been playing in the Portuguese lower divisions after coming through the development ranks of Sporting Lisbon.
