Former Kaizer Chiefs head coach Muhsin Ertugral has slammed the club for choosing Nasreddine Nabi over Pitso Mosimane for their vacant coaching position.
Amakhosi are in the process of finalising a deal that will see Nabi leave Moroccan giants AS FAR for them ahead of next season.
However, Ertugral disapproves, saying Chiefs know nothing about Nabi except what they have been seeing and hearing in the media about him.
The former Orlando Pirates tactician is of the view that Chiefs should have went for Mosimane as they have seen his work over the years.
He also took swipe at his former employers for being silent for so long over who will lead the team next season, saying they don’t act like a great team they are considered to be.
Ertugral’s main concern is that the Nabi deal comes with so many challenges, including the fact that he still has to learn more about Chiefs and the league.

“I don’t see the need to pay attention to a coach that Chiefs know nothing about [Nabi] when Mosimane is unemployed and does not hide the fact that he grew up as a Chiefs fan,” Ertugral told Isolezwe as per GOAL.
“The silence of Chiefs is shameful because they do not act like a team that is considered to be great.
“Everything they know about the coach they are associated with is from the media, but they know Mosimane’s work.
“Hiring Mosimane will reduce many problems that would come with a new coach who still has to learn a lot not only about the team but also about the league,” the former Ajax Cape Town mentor added.
“When Chiefs hired me years ago, they told me that there is a culture that is followed, but I don’t believe that it is still being followed.
“This is not the Chiefs I know, who have gone for almost ten years without putting anything in the trophy cabinet as if nothing had happened,” he continued.
“It’s not that I’m talking bad about the coach identified in Chiefs, but it doesn’t make sense to hire a foreigner when Mosimane is not working anywhere if you’re determined to bring back the happy times.”
NEW TECHNICAL TEAM SETUP FOR AMAKHOSI
Meanwhile, for the first time in many years, there will be a new technical team setup at Kaizer Chiefs as Nabi is expected to bring in his own backroom staff.
Previously, a coach appointed by Chiefs would be given either one or two assistants by the management – the majority of whom were club legends.
And this was the management’s attempt to preserve the club’s culture but this hasn’t worked in years now hence the expected new technical team setup.
