He is currently retired and running his own academy, the John Pantsil Academy in Ghana.

The 41-year-old spoke to iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu in edition 88 of the newspaper.

While he notes the slump Amakhosi is enduring he says they are just as professional as European sides with top facilities.

“I know Kaizer Chiefs is one of the biggest clubs in Africa. I respect them, I admire them so much, and how they run the club,” he told iDiski Times.

“You know, when you clean your house, everybody wants to come there and eat, that is Kaizer Chiefs. They are very clean, they are very tough and professionalism is key to them.

“I think for me, when you count European clubs, count Kaizer Chiefs too, because their set up, cooperates, infrastructure and so many things I can’t mention.

“I recently watched the game that they lost to AmaZulu and I was thinking to myself that, oh unlucky, they were unlucky. Kaizer Chiefs is one of the clubs that even a heavy defeat, won’t push them down because they are always professionals.

“They know there are three things in football, either you lose or you draw or you win. So they are a top professional football club, and maybe somebody will sit at the back and say a team like Kaizer Chiefs lost four [4-0], what is going to happen?

“Believe me in my mind nothing is going to happen. They will only ask the players to do well and for players to take responsibility. That’s all, because they are a top professional football club.”
