Kamohelo Mokotjo is reportedly set to undergo a trial at one of his former clubs next month.

Mokotjo has been a free agent since leaving MLS side FC Cincinnati at the end of last year and previously appeared set to undergo a trial in January with former club FC Twente in the Netherlands ahead of a potential move.

Those plans were put on hold, however, after it was discovered that the South Africa international, who represented Twente between 2014 and 2017, was carrying a knee injury which required surgical repair and which would leave him sidelined for an extended period of time.

According to Dutch publication Tubantia, the 31-year-old could now receive another opportunity to complete a return to his former stomping ground next month – provided he can prove his fitness ahead of the club’s pre-season preparations.

The report reveals that Twente, who finished fourth in the Eredivisie this season, will return to camp on 19 June and that Mokotjo could form part of the training group if he has reached the stage in his recovery that allows him to do so.

He made 105 appearances for the club during his previous spell in the Netherlands, where he also turned out for PEC Zwolle, Excelsior and Feyenoord after starting his career in South Africa with SuperSport United.
